What’s HDPE Pipe Fittings?

HDPE pipe fittings, also called polyethylene pipe fittings or poly fittings, are used for the connection of HDPE piping systems.

Regularly, the HDPE pipe fittings are available in most common configurations of couplers, tees, reducers, elbows, stub flanges & saddles.,etc.

What’s the the major difference between the HDPE pipe fittings that are made by PE80 material & PE100 material?

The HDPE pipe fittings made by “PE80 material”, are also called PE80 fittings, while “PE100 fittings” means the HDPE pipe fittings made by PE100 material.

PE80 fittings & PE100 fittings are the most common HDPE pipe fittings in the markets.

The major difference between the PE80 fittings & PE100 fittings are density, MFR(melt-flow rate), viscous stress & quasi-static stress. The PE100 material has a higher strain hardening modulus than PE80 material, that makes the HDPE pipe fittings made by PE100 material can perform a better viscous stress and quasi-static stress, which allow the PE100 fittings has a thinner wall for the same pressure ratings.

For examples: for the HDPE pipe fittings with same diameter & same designed pressure rating, like: DN200-PN10 bars HDPE pipe, the wall thickness will be 11.9mm for PE100 fittings, while for PE80 fittings, the wall thickness will be 14.7mm.

Since PE100 material owes a higher strain hardening modulus & lower MFR, a higher moulding pressure & higher injection temperature shall be requested while producing HDPE pipe fittings made by PE100 material.
